[fiction] Grief is the Thing with Feathers by Max Porter
[non-fiction] Journalism and Popular Culture by Peter Dahlgren and Colin Sparks (eds.)
The non-fiction reading on here will be increasingly dissertation-themed I’m afraid. (Don’t worry, I will discuss the topic and angle of my dissertation on here in more detail, but I am going to wait until it is “a done deal” as they say, so as not to trigger a plagiarism filter for copying from myself, so to speak.)
As for Grief is the Thing with Feathers, if you don’t fancy reading the entire thing (although it very small and definitely doesn’t take more than one evening or a short flight to read), I can only recommend the review by Kirsty Gunn. It is just as enjoyable but less heart-breaking.
